Miami, Florida. – All good things must come to an end and on December 17th it will be the end of our epic lightweight tournament. What started as eight warriors entering into the cage in July will end at CFA 04 with only one remaining undefeated and becoming CFA’s inaugural lightweight champion. Come watch live as finalist Patrick “Lights Out” Cenoble, who has dominated on his way to the finals, defeating 7 of his last 8 opponents by KO or TKO, faces hometown favorite Yoislandy “Cuba” Izquierdo, who believes he has a date with destiny, “I thank God I made it to the finals where I will be fighting a great fighter in Patrick,” Izquierdo continued “[but] I am prepared to obtain the victory.”
But before you watch the ultimate victor of the lightweight tournament walk away with a $20,000 prize, the combatants in the co-main event of the night are looking to move one step closer to their own $20,000 prize. Local heroes Danny “The Columbian Warrior” Chavez and Joey “The Real Deal” Rodriguez face each other in one half of the quarter-finals of the featherweight tournament and their pre-fight banter promises an exciting fight for everyone present. “Look I respect you as fighter, but you’re standing in my way, on my road to glory, and no one is stopping me,” Rodriguez told Chavez after one particularly heated exchange, “[l]et's make this fight one to be remembered!!!” To which Chavez responded “I’m down, so let’s stop the talking and let our actions speak for themselves”.
The other half of the electrifying undefeated featherweight tournament pits Jordan “Pretty Boy” Parsons against James “Humble Pie” Cianci. While Cianci has lived up to his name, Parsons has made proclamations that are sure to turn this hotly contested fight personal. “I’m feeling it,” Parsons recently said, “[h]is mom weeps for his safety because even she knows he’s not ready.”
Outside of our highly anticipated undefeated tournament fights at CFA 04, Championship Fighting Alliance also hosts the return of CFA featherweight champion, Luis “Baboon” Palomino as he begins his quest to get the recognition and exposure he deserves as one of the best fighters in his weight class. Baboon who has won almost half his fights by knockout will be facing a dangerous opponent in Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett. Bennett, fighting in mixed martial arts for over a decade and a veteran of PRIDE, King of the Cage and Elite XC, has notable wins over PRIDE veteran Yoshiro Maeda and Strikeforce veteran K.J. Noons, and is looking to add Palomino to his resume. “I just want to fight! I’ll play to the cameras after the fight… until then I’m going to let my hands do the talking!”
And no CFA show would be complete without the heart-pounding action provided by South Florida favorite, Mike “The Wolverine” Rio. Like his namesake, Rio was a powerful predator at CFA 03 pouncing on his opponent Zach “Juice” Juusola and ending the fight in the first round by TKO. Rio looks to bring that performance to CFA 04 against northeastern mixed martial arts veteran John Ortolani. Ortolani brings his own fire power to the fight having won more than 60% of his fights by KO/TKO and looks to break Rio’s winning streak, “I’m going to try and knock him out.”
